The Alliance Française de Lyon was delighted to welcome a group of Brazilian students from the Alliance Française de São Paulo. As part of their intensive language stay in Lyon, these students had the opportunity to discover the city of Annecy on an unforgettable day.
Annecy, a city of history and nature
Nestled in the heart of the Alps, Annecy is a city of exceptional beauty, often nicknamed the “Venice of the Alps” for the canals that wind through its historic center.
The old town boasts cobbled streets, colorful facades, flower-filled bridges and several emblematic monuments, including the Palais de l’Isle and the Château d’Annecy. Surrounded by mountains, Annecy offers an exceptional natural setting that attracts many visitors. A dynamic and welcoming city, it also offers a rich cultural life and local specialties, making it an ideal destination for discovering French culture and heritage.
A day of culture, nature and gastronomy
The Brazilian language group met up at 11 Pierre Bourdan at the Alliance Française de Lyon, before heading off to Annecy.
The morning began with a guided tour of Old Annecy with Eliane, a passionate local guide. For two hours, the students explored the charms of the old town, discovering its history, medieval architecture and traditions, while practicing their French in an authentic setting.
After the tour, the group headed to the traditional restaurant Le Ramoneur Savoyard, where they enjoyed a typical Savoyard meal. This convivial lunch enabled the students to savor regional specialties while exchanging their impressions of the day.
The afternoon continued with free time in the town center, followed by a one-hour cruise on Lake Annecy. This boat trip gave the Brazilians a different view of the city and its surroundings, between crystal-clear waters and Alpine peaks.
A valuable experience for students
This excursion was much more than just a moment of relaxation: it enabled the students to reinforce their linguistic and cultural immersion. By listening to the guide, reading the menus, asking questions or interacting with the locals, they had the opportunity to practice their French in a variety of real-life situations.
“Once we arrived in Annecy, we discovered a panorama surrounded by the Alps, with the lake at the heart of the town… It’s a magnificent view that we don’t have near our home, and we really felt we were in a unique place. The region also offers gastronomic specialties, so we had the opportunity to discover new dishes and experience the French language in another way”, Jhonatã, from the Alliance Française de São Paulo.
