Building Since its creation, the Alliance Française de Lyon has occupied this magnificent building, a former school located at 11 rue Pierre Bourdan, in Lyon’s 3rd arrondissement. This emblematic site, which combines historic charm and modernity, has become the home of this institution. Since 2006, the building has belonged to the Alliance, enabling it to strengthen its presence and commitment in the Lyon area.

Launched in 2017, this unique educational program aims to teach French while raising learners’ awareness of environmental issues and challenges. Using “playful” teaching sheets adapted to different CEFR levels, FASP combines language learning with ecological awareness.

Modernization As with most training centers, COVID-19 represented an unprecedented challenge for the Alliance Française de Lyon. The closure of borders limited access to courses, and many learners wishing to discover the French language and culture were unable to come to Lyon. At the end of this painful period, the Alliance Française de Lyon was able to renew itself, and by the end of 2022 had embarked on a vast plan to modernize its premises, digital tools and internal procedures.
Today This is why the Alliance Française de Lyon is now firmly rooted in the Lyon area. It offers quality courses for students wishing to learn French in a welcoming and stimulating environment. Numerous projects are underway, including the creation of genuine cultural partnerships for the year 2025. These collaborations will enable the Alliance to diversify and enrich its offer, reinforcing its role as an educational and cultural player.
