Enrollment of international students
Welcome to the Alliance Française de Lyon! Below you will find the step-by-step registration process for our French courses so you can prepare for your stay in the best possible conditions.
Choose a Course and Prepare Your Registration
Our courses are organized in 2- or 4-week sessions. Choose the duration that best suits your objective:
- Reach a specific level of French
- Improve your skills for academic studies or professional purposes
- Prepare for an exam (DELF, DALF, TCF, etc.)
Tip: For a visa application, you must choose a program lasting at least 4 months.
To guarantee your place, please register at least 45 days before the start of the course.
Registration processing time is a maximum of 3 working days.
How to register?
Pre-registration for a Stay of 4 Months or More
Pre-registration allows you to reserve your place with a partial deposit. It is not final registration.
Conditions
· You must book a minimum of 4 months of courses (80 hours per month)
· You must complete the pre-registration at least 3 months before the course start date
How It Works
· Pay a 30% deposit per session
· Pay the registration fee (€70)
· Add accommodation placement fees if needed (€120–€200)
Example: For 6 months of courses, you pay the deposit for 6 months + registration fee + accommodation fees (if applicable).
Online Steps
· Select your course and duration (minimum 4 months, 80 hours/month)
· Click “Pre-register / Pay a deposit”
· Create an account and complete payment
· Receive your pre-registration certificate for your visa application
· Pay the remaining balance no later than 45 days before the start of the course
Visa Application
The Alliance Française de Lyon does not handle student visa applications.
We recommend contacting the Campus France office in your country of residence.
To create your student visa application file:
- a pre-registration or registration certificate will be provided
- this document confirms your enrollment commitment with our school

Visa Refusal
In the event of a visa refusal, your course fees will be refunded upon presentation of official proof. Please consult our General Terms and Conditions before registering for our courses.

Au Pair Stay
· Contact the French Consulate in your country to learn about the requirements
· Prior authorization from the Departmental Directorate of Labor, Employment and Vocational Training (DDTEFP) is mandatory before registering for our courses
