The civic exam is a mandatory exam for certain procedures in France, particularly in the context of a naturalization application, a resident card, or a multi-year residence permit. It evaluates your knowledge of the values of the French Republic, the functioning of institutions, and the fundamental principles of life in society.

The exam is computer-based, and thanks to automated grading, you receive fast results.

An official certificate is issued upon passing the test; it is valid for life.

Schedule of events

The civic exam is digital and consists of 40 questions, divided into two parts:

  1. Knowledge Questions (28 questions)

    Covering the 5 official topics:

    • Principles and values of the Republic
    • French and European institutions
    • Rights and duties in France
    • History, geography, and culture
    • Life in French society
  2. Practical Scenarios (12 questions)

    Concrete situations from everyday or professional life in France, designed to evaluate your ability to adopt the expected behaviors.

    For each question, only one answer is correct out of 4 options.

Point system
  • 40 questions in total
  • Minimum 32 correct answers required
  • That is, an 80% pass rate to validate the exam
  • Upon passing, the certificate obtained is valid for life.

Results
  • Results are sent by email within 24 to 48 hours.
  • They are also accessible from your personal account.
Cancellation and refund
  • The test is non-refundable in case of absence or no-show.
  • If the session is canceled by the organizer, a refund or rescheduling will be offered.
