Which exam should you choose?

TCF

The TCF (Test de Connaissance du Français) measures your language skills in listening comprehension, reading comprehension, speaking and writing.

It is intended for anyone wishing to certify their level of French according to the European Framework of Reference for Languages (ECRL), from A1 to C2.

Available versions:

  • TCF IRN – for integration, residence, or nationality procedures in France
  • TCF Canada – for Canadian immigration or citizenship
  • TCF Tout Public – to assess your level for personal or professional purposes

Objectives of the TCF:

  • Justify your level of French
  • Build an immigration application
  • Access studies or employment in a French-speaking context

DELF

The DELF is an official diploma from the French Ministry of National Education, issued by France Éducation International. It certifies your level of French, from A1 to B2, according to the European Framework of Reference for Languages (ECRL). This international diploma, recognized by educational institutions and employers worldwide, is valid for life.

Objectives:

  • Validate your level to study in France or in a French-speaking country
  • Justify your level for employment or a personal project
  • Prepare for your French naturalization (B2) or the resident card (B1)

DALF

The DALF is an official diploma from the French Ministry of National Education, issued by France Éducation International. It represents the final step in the French certification pathway and certifies an advanced level of mastery of the French language (C1–C2). This international diploma, recognized by educational institutions and employers worldwide, is valid for life.

Objectives:

  • Enter a French or French-speaking university
  • Facilitate access to positions requiring an advanced command of French
  • Certify your linguistic skills in a demanding professional or academic context

DAEFLE

The DAEFLE (Diplôme d’Aptitude à l’Enseignement du Français Langue Étrangère) is a professional certification issued by the Alliance Française of Paris in partnership with CNED. This professional training certifies your teaching skills to teach French to non-native speakers, whether in France or internationally.

How to register for French exams?

  1. Choose the diploma or test (DELF, DALF, TCF, DAEFLE).
  2. Check the available dates
  3. Prepare your supporting documents (ID, school or professional proof depending on the exam).
  4. Proceed with the payment
  5. Receive your exam invitation by email whitin one week before the tests

How to prepare for French exams?

DELF and DALF

  • Work on the four skills: listening comprehension, reading comprehension, written and oral expression
  • Use official exam papers to practice (FEI exam link)
  • Use online preparation modules (B1–B2 link) or private lessons (DALF C1 link)

TCF

  • Complete online exercises on the official platform (FEI link)
  • Practice speaking and writing regularly, clearly, and fluently
  • Incorporate daily practice: listening to podcasts, reading texts, and writing
  • Use online preparation modules (Prep TCF link)

DAEFLE

  • Follow the CNED training and complete the specialization modules
  • Teaching practice with exercises and role-playing scenarios
