Our exam preparation courses
The Alliance Française in Lyon offers a range of courses and tools to help you prepare for your French language certifications.
Why prepare for French exams?
- Increase your chances of success: structured training improves your success rate on exams.
- Improve your French level: targeted preparation helps refine your grammar, vocabulary, and listening comprehension.
- Access professional or academic opportunities: a French diploma recognized internationally allows you to work or study in France or other French-speaking countries.
These exams are also an excellent way to measure your progress in French and obtain a certification that will support you throughout your professional and personal journey.
What types of French exams are there?
At the Alliance Française de Lyon, we offer several French diplomas that you can prepare for according to your goals:
- DELF (Diploma in French Studies): ideal for those who want to validate their general French proficiency and apply for a residence card (B1) or naturalization (B2).
- DALF (Advanced Diploma in French Language): this diploma is more advanced and certifies a higher level of French.
- TCF (French Knowledge Test): evaluates written and oral skills, useful for administrative procedures like a residence permit (B1) or residence card (B2).
Self-study or with a teacher
You can choose to prepare independently or with a teacher, depending on your schedule and the exam you choose.
Exam preparation independently
Our collaboration with Prep My Future and its online modules offers you the flexibility to study at your own pace. You can access placement tests, mock exams, and practical exercises at any time, with no long-term commitment.
Exam preparation with a teacher
For optimal preparation for your DALF C1, choose personalized support with our in-person courses. You will be guided by a qualified teacher (Master 2) and FLE expert to help you prepare for exams, provide practical advice, and improve your oral and written expression.
How are our preparations organized?
Our preparations are designed to provide a clear and structured progression.
Online courses are accessible at any time for one year, allowing you to review at your own pace. You will have access to varied educational resources (videos, interactive exercises, level tests) to strengthen your language skills.
In-person courses are organized in 4-week sessions, with one class per week to allow regular progress. Each session focuses on a specific aspect of the exam, whether listening comprehension or written production.
How long are the preparation courses?
The duration of preparation courses varies depending on the chosen exam and preparation method:
- Online courses: Unlimited access for one year. You can progress at your own pace and complete exercises whenever you wish.
- In-person courses: Our DALF C1 courses are generally organized over a single session (about 4 weeks), with weekly sessions.
Why choose French courses at Alliance Française de Lyon?
At the Alliance Française de Lyon, learning French is first and foremost a cultural immersion and a human experience. Our teachers are all qualified experts (Master 2) and FLE certified, using a communicative and action-oriented method. From day one, learners are encouraged to speak and interact to progress naturally in French.
Courses use the Défi actuel (A1-A2) and Défi (B1-B2) textbooks, available in hybrid edition with videos, tutorials, and pronunciation exercises. The teaching platform Apolearn centralizes materials, exercises, and videos for an interactive and comprehensive experience.
Our experienced teachers ensure coherent progression with clear objectives and final tasks for each session. Learners develop skills they can use in their daily and professional life. They can also prepare the diplomas and certifications needed for administrative procedures (citizenship application, studies, documents, etc.).
Learning French in Lyon with our school is much more than attending a course: it is living the language daily, progressing quickly, and discovering the richness of Francophone culture. We offer housing assistance for a smooth settlement and integration in Lyon.
