Au Pair Immersion Course – 1 month
The immersive French language program for au pairs allows participants to make rapid progress in French while enjoying an authentic cultural experience in France.
A format suited to au pair life
- 56 hours of classes per month, spread from Monday to Friday
- No classes on Wednesday, to allow free time or to spend with the host family
- Practical classes focused on oral communication, comprehension, and everyday life in France

Examples of educational activities in immersive classes:
- Practical workshops on specific topics to improve vocabulary and conversation skills
- Educational outings (Halles Paul Bocuse, Traboules de la Croix Rousse, Tony Garnier Museum, etc.)
- Role-playing and scenarios to develop oral expression
- Presentations and collaborative activities to improve oral fluency
The courses promote listening comprehension, spontaneous expression, and self-confidence.

Learners must already have an au pair contract with a host family.
A placement test is mandatory before the start of classes.
It is taken online after you register or during a consultation appointment.

In order to offer a modern and interactive experience, the course includes:

The placement test assesses language skills and places each participant in a suitable group. It is available online or during a consultation appointment. (link)
After registering, you will receive an email giving you access to our online platform. You will start with a self-assessment, which will enable us to offer you a test tailored to your profile.
This French placement test, based on the four skills of the CEFR (listening and reading comprehension, speaking and writing), lasts between 1 hour and 1 hour 30 minutes.
It is then corrected by an expert trainer from the Alliance Française in Lyon, ensuring accurate placement in the appropriate level.

At the Alliance Française in Lyon, learning French is above all a cultural and human immersion experience. Our teachers are all certified FLE (French as a Foreign Language) experts and use a communicative and action-oriented teaching method. From day one, learners are encouraged to speak and exchange ideas in order to progress naturally in French.
The courses use the textbooks Défi actuel (A1-A2) and Défi (B1-B2), available in a hybrid edition (student’s book + online activity book with videos, tutorials and pronunciation exercises). Our online educational tool centralizes materials, exercises, and videos for a comprehensive, interactive experience.
Our experienced teachers ensure consistent progress with clear objectives and final assignments at the end of each session. Students develop skills that they can use in their daily and professional lives.

- Recommended registration: at least 45 days before the start of the course.
- Processing time: 3 business days maximum.
- To start on the first day, register no later than the previous Tuesday.
- Regular attendance and personal work are essential for success in the program.
- The Alliance Française does not assist with finding or connecting with host families, does not intervene in the management or validation of au pair contracts, and does not carry out any administrative procedures or visa applications.
