General French + speaking skills / summer workshop - 9 months

You must have successfully completed a level to advance to the next level (example: A2 = A1 completed).

Contents

General French (all year)

Monday to Friday 9am -12pm or 2.15pm-5.15pm

All our courses are in line with the CEFR, Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, with the aim of offering an effective learning progress. The course helps you acquire the skills described by the CEFR and will get you ready for official certifications. It helps you develop and improve 5 general language skills: listening, reading, writing, speaking and oral interaction. 2 teachers rotate within the week.

+Speaking skills (all year except during summer workshops)

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 12:30pm- 1:45pm

This course aims to develop your speaking skills by practicing everyday situations and learning to express emotions and feelings. The course is taught by a different teacher every day.

Or summer workshop (1-12 July & 5 -16 August)

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 12:30pm- 1:45pm

We offer lively & interactive workshops designed to help you understand French language & culture through speaking & writing exercises.

Level A1N1: Grammar Games (discover our specially designed card games for learning and practicing grammar)

For higher levels, the subject of the workshop changes as described below. Cultural visits, meetings with French professionals and teamwork activities  are included, giving you the opportunity to practice the French language differently.

  • JULY 2019
    Levels A1N2 & A2 : SPEAKING EXERCICES WITH IMAGES   (Express your opinion, tastes and preferences through simple images).
    Levels B1 &+URBAN ART  (Discover, discuss and give your opinion about Urban Art in Lyon. Project : make your first work of art and let your imagination run wild).
  • AUGUST 2019
    Level A1N2 : SILENT FILM   (From the origins of cinema to the Oscar-winning film “The Artist”, learn all about silent films. Project: make your first silent movie in black and white).
    Level A2 : PHOTO COMICS   (Discover the codes of the photo novel and imagine your own story! Project : make your own photo comics).
    Level B1 : TRAVEL THROUGH BOOKS  (Travel through the pages of « Claudine de Lyon » and stop over on the island of the tale and the hill of Lyon).
    Levels B2 & + :  LITTERATURE  (Discover & discuss the major subjects of society through French literature).

Course materials

  • Texbooks Alter Ego+ 1, 2, 3, 4 up to level B2 (it is possible to buy them at the registration office )
  • Subject-based materials especially designed by our teaching team for levels C1 and C2.

Number of students per class

Minimum: 8 students
Maximum: 18 students

Included

  • Initial placement test.
  • An assessment at the end of the CEFR level.

Important

  • For General French, class schedule (morning or afternoon) depends on your level as well as class availability.
  • From January 2020, this course will include 84h/month and class will be scheduled as follows. General French (incl. speaking skills): 9am-12.30pm / In addition, you will be able to choose Grammar or Writing Skills : 2pm-5.30pm. Read + about courses in 2020
  • To ensure a fast and smooth learning progress, attendance as well as extra study outside class are required.
