Before coming to France, students should :

· request pre-enrolment, if they need a student visa ;
· pay an application fees of 50€ ;
· pay a pre-registration fees (60 € per the number of months contained in the intended length of stay) ;
· obtain a visa from the French authority (embassy or consulate) in their home country.

On arrival at the Alliance Française of Lyon

Students should :

· enrol for a period of time (not less than one month recommended) ;
· pay the  tuition fees corresponding to the duration of their French language learning at the Alliance Française de Lyon, less the pre registration fees if  already paid ;
· subscribe for a health-insurance if the student hasn’t yet signed for a health insurance in the country of origin.

(For your information one month registration only in any school doesn’t entitle to a residence card).

If the stay exceeds 3 months :

Students must require a stay permit from the Préfecture du Rhône having first obtained
a certificate of permanent enrolment from the Alliance Francaise, which is only issued
for the number of months for which fees have been paid.

Residence Card for students

To obtain a Residence Card (or carte de séjour), the Student must go to the Préfecture du Rhône in order to :

· make an appointment ;
· be informed about the necessary documents and forms that are to be produced ;
· collect the card after having satisfied to all conditions.

Au pair

For young au pairs, the French Consulate of the home country requires the prior agreement of the DDTE du Rhône (Departmental Management of Work and Employment).
This agreement is given for a minimum of six months if you provide a certificate of payment for your tuition fees.
